  • How long does a therapy session usually last?
We believe in tailored speech therapy to each child and therefore, each child's speech therapy sessions will last a different amount of time depending on their strenghts and needs identified during the assessment. As a rule of thumb, a therapy session usually lasts 45 minutes, including parent discussion and feedback.
  • Where do appointments take place?
All our appointments (assessment and intervention) take place in your child's most natural environment - at home or at school (available upon request).
  • How long does an assessment usually last?
Each assessment will be different, and each assessment will take a different amount of time, based on what your child requires. However, in general, the assessment appointment usually lasts from 1 hour to 2 hours. Sometimes we choose to split this time into several shorter sessions based on what your child needs.
  • Do you have a waiting list?
At Speech Esteem we believe in readily available access to speech and language therapy services and therefore we do not hold a waiting list for your child's assessment and intervention. We aim to see all of our clients at a time and place that suits them most and as soon as possible after an initial enquiry.
  • What are your fees?
You can learn about our service fees on the Fees page on our website. Please Contact Us for more details if you require a detailed analysis of anticipated costs for your child's speech and language therapy support.
  • Do you accept private insurance?
Currently, we are unable to accept private insurance claims. However, we are working to offer this option in the future. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
  • What is a Neurodiversity Affirming approach?
A neurodiversity-affirming approach recognises and celebrates neurological differences, such as autism, as natural variations of the human experience rather than disorders to be "fixed." In this approach, the focus is on supporting each individual’s unique communication style and empowering them to express themselves in ways that feel authentic. This approach prioritises respect, autonomy, and creating environments where diverse ways of communicating are valued and understood.
  • Do you offer support for non-speaking children?
Yes, we use a variety of communication methods, including augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), to support non-speaking children.
  • How do online sessions work?
Online sessions are conducted via video calls, using interactive activities and strategies to engage your child in the same way as in-person therapy.
